Sat., July 5 -- Final Work Party at 127 Doxey!
Habitat Volunteers,
This is it! The next and FINAL Habitat work party at 127 Doxey Street in Ogden.
On Saturday, July 5,
we'll be working with a group of Air Force Academy cadets and others to string
the fence and to finish the closet doors, touch up painting, and cleanup. If
you are interested in helping, please give us a call or email to coordinate.
There will be NO work party this Saturday, June 28.
We are in the process of
getting the necessary building permit to begin
renovation of the adjacent house at 133 Doxey
in the next month or so. And we
have
some exciting Fund Raising and Publicity activities later this summer.
You'll be hearing more about that soon.
Our sincere thanks to all of you who have supported Habitat with you hands,
heart and prayers.

FOR SALE: Sharp AR 207 Digital Imager
Table top copier on portable metal stand with shelves, with 2 unused Sharp
AR-202NT black toner cartridges and 1 unused Sharp FO-47ND black toner
cartridge.
This copier with stand and supplies was donated to Habitat at our September
Yard Sale. We have used it in our office, but it needs cleaning and maintenance
to work reliably. We don’t do enough copying to make it worth purchasing a
maintenance contract. If you are interested, please call or email our office
and make an offer.
Thank you,

Needed:
Mentors, Materials Handlers
and Chairpersons for the
Family Support
and
Volunteer Coordination
Committees.
Habitat for Humanity of Weber and Davis Counties
is looking for chairpersons
for the following committees:
FAMILY SUPPORT
This committee works with partner families both before and after construction
to be sure that the families know what is required in the area of sweat equity,
to provide a record of that time requirement, and to help in the transition of
true homeownership. Members of this committee may also help the families in the
areas of budgeting and home maintenance.
VOLUNTEER COORDINATION COMMITTEE
This committee organizes and contacts volunteers to set up times and places to
work, both at job sites and for fund raising activities. This committee also
tracks volunteers and volunteer hours, coordinates with outside work groups,
provides support and recognition to volunteers, and provides food, first aid
and hospitality at work sites.
Also,
the
Family Support Committee
would like to recruit some new mentors for future families and the
Materials Committee
is looking for people to handle building materials.
If you have an interest in any of the above positions, or would like to learn
more about them, please send an email to:

Storage Space for Building Supplies Needed
We are in desperate need of extra space to store donated building supplies and
often have to turn down such donations because we do not have sufficient space
to store them. So, if you've got, or know where we can get, some extra
warehouse space, a vacant mini-storage unit, a secure storage container, some
vacant retail space, etc. that you or somebody would like to donate for our
use, please
contact us!
Send us an email at:

Habitat Volunteers Honored at Weber State
I couldn't be more pleased to announce that some of our own Habitat volunteers
were honored during a
Community Involvement Recognition Luncheon
on Friday, April 11 at
Weber State University.
Nicole Charlesworth
(our Treasurer),
Kyle Petersen
(our current WSU student chapter rep), and
Billy Rutter
(our former WSU student chapter rep) were among 21 students who were honored
for their service with the
Volunteer Involvement Program.
Additionally, three
Utah Campus Compact Outstanding Service
awards were presented: one to a faculty member (Victoria Ramirez); one to a
community partner (Karen Thurber); and one to a student. Billy Rutter received
the latter award as he was honored as the
Civically-Engaged Student of the Year!
A poster was on display during the luncheon showing Billy's involvement with,
among other things, our own Doxey Street project, and the Alternative Spring
Break Habitat project in which he participated recently in Oregon. I was told
that there were a lot of very impressive students nominated for this award,
that it was a very difficult choice to select just one and that, in the end,
Billy's amazing and contagious passion for helping others (that we've all had
the privilege of witnessing firsthand) made him stand out.
Congratulations to
Nicole, Kyle,
and
Billy!

2007 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)
Nets Over $9700 For Habitat
We received official notice during March that the pledges made to our affiliate
during the Fall 2007 CFC totaled $9719.44, an increase over the 2006 CFC
pledges that totaled $7672.59. Also, the number of federal employees who
pledged a donation to our affiliate increased from 16 during the 2006 CFC to 29
during the 2007 CFC. Many thanks to all those federal employees who so
generously pledged their support during the 2007 Combined Federal Campaign. We
really appreciate you!
We also just received notification that we have been accepted to participate in
the 2008 Combined Federal Campaign this coming Fall. We urge our federal
employee friends to continue to support us! Your generosity is so vital to our
mission of helping wonderful low-income families build, or renovate, and then
buy their own safe, decent, and affordable homes!

Thanks to Doxey Volunteers, 3/29/08
Our thanks to Jerry Peuser, with support from Howard Callahan, Mike Just and
Jeremy Peuser, for leading our work party again this Saturday, March 29. We got
some more interior and porch trim done, some electrical switches installed, and
a start cleaning the basement. It was great to see Billy Rutter, Ken Tolbert,
Rey Arellano, Michelle Renner and Marc Rankin out again. And thanks to Eric
Trost, Paige Scott, Mike Acord, Hana Orr and Kylee Pambraugh for their help
while earning Community Service Credits. And thanks to Kim Harbath for a warm
soup and brownie lunch (and photos below.}
Thanks also to Ray Holt and Bruce Hansen of Buxton Masonry for the great work
bricking over a window and door that have been closed off on the outside back
wall.

We Have Our Own Truck!
Our thanks to Suzanne Kanatsiz and Franklin Gilson for donating their 1990 Ford
F-250 3/4 ton pick-up truck to
Habitat for Humanity of Weber and Davis
Counties.
We were able to get it inspected and licensed without any difficulty.
Howard Callahan has already used it to pick up and deliver building materials
to our work site and to haul construction waste to the local dump. We are often
in need of a truck and are delighted to have one in such good working
condition. It will get plenty of use.
